Vesak's art is built from a recognisable set of forms: the paper or cloth Vesak lantern (kudu) built on a bamboo frame, the pandal (thorana) telling a Jataka story in painted panels lit from behind, the oil lamp (pahan) in rows, and the lotus as the recurring symbolic flower throughout.
For the artwork itself, the pandal is the most instructive example to study - it combines narrative sequence (a story told left to right or top to bottom across panels), stylised figure drawing, and a limited, symbolic colour palette in one object, which is exactly the combination of skills the syllabus is building toward.
