Read across a row rather than down a column - one row is a complete unit of work from competency to assessment indicator. Grade 10 teachers use it to plan the term; students use it to see exactly what the term is expected to cover.
Grade 10 and 11 is when the annual plan starts to matter for the exam directly: each unit in it corresponds to a set of questions the O/L paper can draw from, and the competencies listed are close to a direct description of what's being marked. Working through the plan alongside the term reading book, rather than the reading book alone, is the difference between knowing the material and knowing what the exam wants back.
This term's plan maps directly onto the nine units in the Term 2 reading book - George Keyt, the Renaissance masters, four Kandyan-period sites and Egyptian art - so reading the two side by side shows exactly which competency each unit is meant to teach.
