Ramadan's visual culture centres on light and pattern: the crescent moon and star, hanging lanterns (fanous) lit for the evenings of the month, and geometric star patterns used across cards, decorations and textiles.
As a classroom project it pairs naturally with the Masjid lesson in the same unit - both draw on the same geometric pattern vocabulary, so a technique practised in one carries straight over into the other.
