Grade 11 students should work through the terms in order, because later units assume the vocabulary introduced earlier.
What this term covers
Term two moves the balance from painting towards sculpture and architecture, and from the recent past towards the Polonnaruwa period. Eight units, and several of them are about three-dimensional work rather than pictures.

How to work through it
Sculpture is described differently from painting, and this is the term to learn that vocabulary: mass, volume, the way a form occupies space, what the material allows. Henry Moore is on the syllabus partly to teach exactly this, so use his work as the place where you practise the words.
The Polonnaruwa units - stone statues and architecture - belong together and are best learned as one visit rather than two topics. The Hindu bronzes then give you a contrast in material and in what casting makes possible that carving does not.
Kanakasabapathy is worth knowing by named work: Reading Boy and Cock Fight are the two that come up. A. Mark and the illustration artists are lighter units and can be revised quickly once the heavier ones are secure.
What the exam asks from this term
Expect at least one question that needs sculpture vocabulary rather than painting vocabulary. If your answer to a sculpture question would work equally well for a painting, it is not specific enough - say something about mass, material or how the piece is meant to be walked around.
